Audio Problems
If you're not getting any sound from your computer, see if you can
find the audio buttons on your computer's keyboard. In the picture
below, there are three buttons that have a little speaker icon on them.
The first one also has a circle with a line through it. The second one
has a minus sign, and the third has a plus sign. On my computer, the
audio buttons are on the F5, F6, and F7 keys. Your audio buttons may be
on different keys. Usually, the audio buttons are one of the function
keys (the ones at the very top of the keyboard that are labeled F1
through F12).
The key with the circle and diagonal line is the speaker mute button.
If your speaker is muted, pressing this button will unmute it. If your
speaker is not muted, pressing this button will mute it. Each time you
press this button, the speaker will toggle between muted and unmuted.
The function keys are dual purpose. For example, on my computer
pressing the F7 button increases the volume. If I hold down the FN
button and press the F7 button, my computer will do whatever F7 makes
it do. (On my computer, the FN button is right next to the CTRL
button.)
The button with the minus sign will decrease the volume each time you
press it. The one with the plus sign will increase the volume each time.
If you speaker is unmuted and you're not getting any sound, it could be
that the volume has been turned all the way down to zero. Pressing the
plus button several times will fix this problem.
