- Black and red wires are hot.
- White wires are neutral.
- Green or bare wires are ground.
- Connect hot wires to brass-colored screws.
- Connect neutral wires to silver-colored screws.
- Connect ground wires to green screws.
- Neutral wires are never connected to switches.
- Silver screws always need to be connected to neutral.
- The larger the gauge (AWG) number, the smaller the
wire diameter.
