  1. Calculate the size of a dummy load resistor that would draw 1.2 A. when there is 12 V. across it.
  2. Calculate the wattage dissipated by the resistor.
  3. Plug a header cable into J1.
  4. Connect the four header-wires to a breadboard.
  5. Connect the wire coming from the J1 cable pin 7 to ground.
  6. Connect wires from J2 pins 1, 2, 9, and 10 to a breadboard.
  7. Connect the dummy load resistor to the wires coming from pins 1 and 2 of J2.
  8. Connect a voltmeter across the dummy load resistor
  9. Connect a 12 volt power supply to J2 pins 9 and 10.
  10. Connect a the ground of a 5 volt supply to the wire coming from pin 7 of J1.
  11. Connect the wire coming from J1 pin 1 to 5 volts.
  12. What is the voltage across the dummy load resistor: ________________________
  13. Disconnect the wire coming from J1 pin 1 so that it no longers goes to 5 volts.
  14. What is the voltage across the dummy load resistor: ________________________


Extra Credit HD03-16--------10 points
  1. Solder four six-inch wires onto a header that will be inserted into J1. The wires should be soldered to pins 1, 2, 3, and 7. Use shrink tube over the pins.
